Gluten-Free Red Bean Burgers

INGREDIENTS (4 PEOPLE)

  • 850 g canned red kidney beans (drained) (±30 oz)
  • 1 onion
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 65 g gluten-free oats (ground) (±⅔ cup)
  • 5 ml cumin (±1 tsp)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 45 ml olive oil (for stovetop cooking) (±3 tbsp)
  • For serving:
  • Gluten-free burger buns, sliced cheese, sliced red onion, sliced tomato, lettuce, pickles...

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Using the SuperSonic Chopper Extra fitted with blade attachment, place all ingredients, cover and pull cord until coarsely blended. 

  2. Evenly divide mixture into 4 portions and shape into patties using the Hamburger Press.

  3. To cook using the MicroPro Series Grill:

    1. Place 2 patties in the MicroPro Series Grill. Place cover on in the grill/low position and microwave for 8 min. at 900 watts. Flip patties and microwave for an additional 2 min.
    2. Add remaining 2 patties, cover in grill/low position and microwave for 6 min. at 900 watts. Flip patties and microwave for additional 2 min.
  4. To cook on the stove:

    Heat oil in a large fry pan on medium heat. Add patties to fry pan and cook for 5-7 min. on each side.

  5. To cook in the oven:

    1. Remove oven rack and preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Place the Silicone Baking Sheet with Rim on the cold oven rack.
    2. Place patties on Silicone Baking Sheet and bake for 20 min., flipping halfway through.
  6. Serve patties in gluten-free burger buns with desired toppings.
